A couple of weeks ago before the big storms blew all the leaves away, this little tree was putting on an outstanding solo performance by the side of the road. The backdrop of dark evergreens provided a perfect foil for its bright yellow foliage.
On the way to the beach yesterday, I was surprised to find a large broom shrub bursting with yellow blossoms.
Looks like spring, doesn’t it? From this shot, you’d never guess that it was a dark and stormy day. The line of white is big waves hitting the shore.
I’m finding that gloomy weather is a great opportunity to practice impressionist photography. Low light means longer shutter speeds without the need for special filters (although I think I had my polarizer on for this shot).
