hunting for dragons

Out at the lake, late afternoon. Lots of these blue dashers around.

I spotted a beautiful iridescent green dragonfly the likes of which I’d never seen before, but it flew away before I had a chance to photograph it. I’ll have to go back and look for it again.

Wonderful photos. I love dragonflies. The second photo is amazing. I have not seen the wings in front like that 🙂

I thought of you this afternoon when I was working outside and saw a creature – assume it’s some kind of dragonfly – that I’d never seen before. It was large, with a thick whitish body, and two-toned brown wings. Not as beautiful as what you have here (great photos!) but interesting. I took pictures, maybe someone here can identify it for me. : )

Not a true macro lens. I recently bought a new Lumix “superzoom” camera (my second) that has good macro capabilities, and I also have an inexpensive close-up set for my Canon DSLR. Between them I play with macro shots. It’s fun because you never really know what you’re going to get! : )
