new year, new beach

New Year’s Day seemed a good time to get out and explore someplace new, so I set out for this rugged, northeast-facing beach I’d never been to before.

This is Boundary Pass, a strait that runs along the boundary between British Columbia and Washington state. That’s Mount Baker peeking out from behind the biggest rock in the background.

One day when the sun is higher in the sky and the tide is low, I’ll go back. I’d like to try a closer shot of that big rock formation.

Thank you. Mount Baker is beautiful, but I feel like it’s photobombing this shot. Like it’s metaphorically waving its arms and shouting “Look at me! Pay attention to me! I’m majestic and snow-capped, and much more photo-worthy than that puny malformed rock.” Ah well. Happy New Year to you!

Oh that’s hilarious. If it makes you feel any better, I did not notice it right away. I love the calm soft blues of the water and the interesting rock formations and the hills receding in the background. Mt Baker definitely had to work hard on this one!
